Mad Crush Monday : Katie Sokoler of Color Me Katie

Katie Sokoler’s blog is the place I visit whenever I need a pick-me-up or a reminder to enjoy life. Katie shares her street art in abundance and inspires me to use color everywhere.

Below is a video showcasing her installation of a playful “mosaic” decoration on her apartment wall.

She also often participates in “Improv Everywhere” and stars in my very favorite is the Star Wars on the Subway video. She’s a perfect Princess Leia.

Yarn Store Field Trip: Bluebird Yarn and Fiber Crafts Sausalito, CA

I love the charming displays of this little shop across the bay. Fantastic ways to show off the beautiful fiber arts they support.

Bluebird’s new home is across the street from the old shop with room to sit and knit, take classes, or just explore.

Easy to find and close to the ferry, I enjoyed wandering and exploring all the details of the sweet shop.

Three cheers for the red white and blue

A long hot weekend in progress, with parades, fireworks and a trip to the local beer garden.

At knit night this week Irish Girlie brought some goodness to destash and I couldn’t resist the Fiberphile Marino Cashmere Sock Yarn in True Heart (Red) and the Plucky Classics Merino Superwash Fingering in Indiscreet (Blue).

The white is really more of a natural off-white and can you see the sparkle? It’s hard to catch in a photo but it does “Glisten.” A gift from Kollage Yarns via Erica who has been visiting the Bay Area this week. The yarn is Alpaca (70%), Silk (25%) and Estillina (5%). Soo very soft. I’m sure it will be a joy to knit. Muchas Gracias to Kollage and the fabulous Erica!
