Disney’s 2015 Cinderella – No New Twists, Just Delightful Magic

With “Frozen” being the smash hit that took over the world, you can bet princesses will continue their popularity with girls. Without a new twist in sight, Disney’s 2015 “Cinderella,” stays true to an old story while remaining vibrant.

Here are the top 3 reasons to love the new Cinderella.

Walt Disney Studios Cinderella

1. Lily James as Cinderella is luminous even when she isn’t in a ballgown.
And the Prince meets her well before the magical night, falling for her spirit and strength.

2. The sets and costuming are stunning.
Combined with the cinematography each scene fills the screen with lush color.

3. The repeated mantra is one we could all support.“Have courage and be kind.” While perhaps a bit overly sweet for some, it’s hard to disagree with the motherly advice escorting Cinderella through trying times.

And maybe the phrase will echo through playgrounds (replacing choruses of “let it go”).

Mary Poppins Birthday Card

My niece is a Mary Poppins Super-Fan so I made a card using images from Disney’s Spoonful Crafts website.

First I created the word and moved it around until I liked how it looked, then I added the Mary image on top and adjusted the transparency to 85%

You can get both Mary Poppins and Bert Silhouettes here.

Fun facts:

In 2012 34.1 million U.S. residents claimed Irish ancestry. This number was more than seven times the population of Ireland itself (4.6 million). Irish was the nation’s second most frequently reported ancestry, trailing only German.

There are 16 places in the United States that share the name Dublin, including nearby to me Dublin, California with a population of 47,156.
