Fresh from the farm box: Pluots make a good crumble recipe

pluots from my CSA

Another new-to-me item from the Capay Valley: pluots. These were easier than the fava beans because I could just take a bite and find out what they were meant to be. Tangy sweet. More like a plumb than apricot – more plu than ot.

I had enough to make a small batch crumble.
sliced pluot

The 3 pluots chopped up nicely and fit into 3 small baking dishes. Then I drizzled raw agave nectar over it.

the crumbly part

The crumbly part was made with 3/4 cup rolled oats, 1/4 cup melted butter, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 cup palm sugar (you could use brown sugar) all mixed together until the oats were pretty well covered.

Finished crumble

Baked at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes.

Finished knitted item – Chevron Love Scarf

Untitled

Irish Girlie’s post on her chosen color-combo reminded me that I never updated when I finished the never-ending chevron scarf.

Untitled

Actually had been finished for a while, but I hadn’t blocked it and it rolled like crazy. It is behaving much better now. So soft – made of 2ply cashmere from Squoosh Fibers (her etsy shop is currently closed). I did a chevron pattern switching off 8-rows of color. As you can see this puppy is loooong but narrow so it will be easy to wrap up close to my neck.

Another knit finished just in time for our usual heat in the days of August and September.

Happy Birthday Lego – My favorite toy and gift to give.

LegoLove

Apparently yesterday was not only National S’more’s Day but also Lego’s birthday. I start giving my nieces and nephews Lego (Duplo) at about age 2. And a small Lego kit is included in every Christmas socking (Santa is smart that way). Lego’s store in Downtown Disney was recently remodeled. Check out the awesome sculptures inside, outside, and around the store. All made from the standard-size bricks.
