Travel Photo Friday: Santa Fe Public Library

book drop

When I go traveling I like to visit a local library if I have time. Libraries are close to my heart and they represent the surrounding community.

Recently I joined Go Mighty and started thinking big and listing goals. I haven’t explored the site fully, but the idea is wonderful and the atmosphere supportive.

The photo above was taken in 2006 during a trip to Santa Fe. I decided that one of my goals is to visit, and photograph at least one library in each of the 50 states. my goal was inspired by Maggie Mason’s goal of photographing the branch libraries of San Francisco.

Do you have a life list? Go over to Go Mighty and be inspired.

Sounds like an interesting idea. I usually visit the more famous libraries (like Seattle or NYC) when I’m visiting, but maybe the smaller town libraries would be unique too!

I have to dig up my pictures of the Seattle library – just beautiful! The small libraries are really interesting – just a little glimpse into the community.

i like the concept of “go mighty” so why does it scare me?

and regarding visiting libraries…i have never thought to do this and i LOVE libraries. i have not even explored the ones that are just outside my county library system…i guess because i know i can’t check anything out but still….i should explore.

    thank you for both ideas.
